Cadwell park MRO Superteens 8/9th July 2006

I like this track a lot because of the fast swooping corners and also the thrill you get from some of them, for example, the goose neck, it’s got the best of a lot of things which are, it’s fast, it’s an “S” bend, it goes down hill and has camber. It’s such a great corner although if you muck it up you are in for an unpleasent ride! As I found out the previous season when I ended up going straight on and then being catapulted over the handle bars!

On Saturday I was fairly confident about qualifying but knew this time around, unlike Snetterton, that I didn’t have an advantage because I’m not exactly the strongest kid in the world because I’m small, light and have less strength compared to some of my other rivals on track… I was going pretty well and wasn’t expecting anything brilliant from myself as I have just explained. By the end of the qualifying session I had knocked some time off from my best time in practice the previous day, and ended up in 10th place.

In the first race on Saturday I was confident and thought I could run in the top 5-6 and was keen to get away to a good start, I did so although it was very sneeky of me because there was little room and Im amazed I got away with it, I got away well past one or two people on my grid and then went along the outside of the track near enough on the white line about 1-2 inches away from the grass and went around the outside of a few people and then found myself in about 5th place, but I knew if someone were to make a mistake whilst I was on the outside then I would be sure to be going down the road on my butt with them! By the end of the race I finished in 6th place which was just what I was looking for after a bit of a battle with some other riders.

In the second race on Saturday the 8th of July I was confident of being able to secure another top six position, I did the same thing off the line again except this time two riders had sussed out my idea of getting away good and in my point of view it seemed like they decided to gang up on me as on the line one was to my left and one was on my right and I was stuck in the middle, so when the lights went out they both came towards me as if they were gonna squish me and they would have if I hadn’t let off! And so they then took my line the cheeky buggers, but that didn’t matter as I just tried to get them back during the race itself. I had another good race but unfortunately got held up by a back marker on the penultimate lap and lost 3-4 positions and ended up a dissapointing 8th place.

On Sunday the 9th of July 2006 I had my first race and was out for a bit of revenge for the last race on Saturday, I got away to a brilliant start and from 10th place, which is where I qualified, I made it to 2nd place! I was amazed it was one of the best starts I had ever had but I also had a bit of luck because a group of about 6-7 riders were huddled together and two went straight on and nearly took me with them, it was a risk but in the end it paid off and although the race was well stretched out I finished in fourth place. Although the race was stopped early due to a horrific accident just before “The Mountain” section. (One rider suffered a broken collarbone but was ok, the other riders came away unscathed).

In the last race on Sunday I had a bad race and was dissapointed with my result, I was completely knackered by the last few laps of the race and dropped off dramatically as I just wasn’t physicaly strong enough and finished in 10th place.
