Lydden Hill is a brilliant litttle track for 125’s as there arent any long straights and is a small twisty little track, which suits 125’s down to the ground because of their cornerspeed.
On friday test day on April the 7th, the weather was perfect it was warm, sunny and there wasnt hardly a cloud in the sky. I had a brilliant practice day and was in touch with the top ten times, and I was also feeling confident with my bike as now we had been donated maxton front and rear suspension, and the bike felt so much more stable through corners, under braking and the suspension was set up precisely to my weight so I shouldn’t have any violent chatter problems resulting in loss of front end grip, which was the case at the previous round at Brands Hatch, because I had a diffrent suspention at the time which was ok but it wasnt ok because it was completly set up wrong.
On saturday April the 8th it was a diffrent story wth the weather… It was very cold, wet, rainy and downright miserable!
As our qualifying session got underway I wasnt doing too well as I hadn’t hardly any experience in the rain before, apart from a couple of times the previous season.
I thought I was doing ok as I was running with a front runner rider but later found out that he also hadn’t had much experience in the rain…
Later on I found out where I had qualified and was dissapointed with that result, it was 22nd.
As the first race got underway, I found myself in about 18th spot and was fighting with a group of riders for about 15th spot, I had a good race with them and made up some positions from my qualifying position and finished in 16th place.
In the second race on Saturday I was with the same little group of riders and was battling for around about the same position as last time, I yet again had a good fight with some riders and bettered my last position from the previous race and finished in 14th place which earnt me two points!
On Sunday race day I was also fighting with same little group and finshed in 16th place and the second race was similar and I finished in 17th place but I was happy, not because of where I had finshed but because of my best lap time which was the same lap time as the top 5 or 6 riders this was able to happen only because of coaching from a good friend Shawn Atkine.
