My Dad had been to Cadwell Park previously about 10 years ago and said the the track is very nice, so I assumed I would love it. On the way there we just managed to make it to the track as just before you enter the track front gates there is a massive hill which seems like it is virtually vertical! we took the hill in 5th gear in our transit van with a very heavy old caravan being towed behind, by the time we had reached the top of the hill we were in 1st gear!
On the Friday test day it was wet yet again just like before at the previous weekend at Knockhill, I was more confident in the wet this time as I had had a bit of experience in the wet after Knockhill.
Fortunately everything went well and I didn’t end up off the bike once in the wet as I took my time a bit more, I didn’t make any sudden movements like jamming on the brakes hard and entering corners aggressively as if it was dry.
In Saturday qualifying I was really up for it and tried as hard as I could to get a good lap time in, unfortunately this plan wasn’t the best idea, as I overcooked it going into the goose neck and went straight on and got somersaulted over the handle bars, thankfully I didn’t sustain any injuries and was good to go.
In the four races I got similar positions to the previous meetings, but also at the time Cadwell wasn’t my favourite of tracks as I just got tired easily. I wasn’t physically strong enough to chuck the bike about from side to side as I am only a little lad.
