Brand Hatch Indy BSB Superstock 600s

Posted by Jess under 2008 Season

Brands turned out to be a fantastic round for me, the bike was working great and I just got quicker each time.

As there was 60 riders entered for my class the organisers decided it would be wise to split our class into two groups, one being Group A that I was in and the other Group B.

My first free practice went well with me being 10th fastest out of my group.

First Qualifying was great, I bettered my time from free practice my a large margin and ended up 4th fastest out of my group with a best time of a 49.2.

Second Qualifying was the next day on Saturday morning, our group out of the two was first out, I found that the exit of druids hairpin was damp so I knew times would be slower, then someone blew up. druids started to dry out but now there was cement dust down to cover up the oil where someone blew their engine up.

I didnt manage to better my time, I ended up qualifying 14th for the race out of all the riders that had entered, and almost 20 of them wasnt even racing!

Race one and I got a Belter of a start, I had made up 7 places in one short lap around Brands Hatch Indy. Things only got better too as one infront got a ride through penalty and a couple of others I passed. I was chuffed  to pieces as I came home in 4th place. I found nothing but happy faces as I pulled into the holding bay, and I went and thanked all the team for the efforts in helping me this season, it was an excellent atmosphere.

Race two was held on Sunday and the weather was brilliant yet again, and so was my race start, I passed a load around the out side at paddock hill although I took a rather wide line on the exit. I was 10th after the first lap this time around, I picked a lot of riders off lap after lap and found myself leading a group of 4-5 riders. I was in 5th untill the leader fell off, then I got into a scrap with a rider behind me. He managed to pull away after a few laps which left me in 5th for the remainder of the race, I came home in fifth and although it was another brilliant result I was hoping to do a little better after finishing 4th in the first race. None the less everyone was very happy that I had manged to prove that the first race wasnt just a one off visit of being very near the front of the pack, as I done it again in race two.

I would like to say a massive thank you to all at MSS Kawasaki, Gearlink Kawasaki, Linxcel, my dad, Shaun Aiken, Alan Harland and anyone else who has helped or supported me in anyway this year.

Cheers

Jess
